Carer Wellbeing – Community outings for people with early stage dementia

CARER WELLBEING

Community outings for people with early stage dementia

Community outing respite activities promote health and wellbeing for attendees in a safe and supportive environment, encourage participants’ independence and give them the opportunity to socialise.
These activities also give their carers the opportunity to take a break from their usual caring responsibilities, on a regular basis.

The outings are:

1. Give it a Go (GIAG) – weekly on a Wednesday from 10am to 3pm. Accepts people 65-70 with dementia who are physically active.

2. Let’s Go for Coffee (LGFC) – weekly on a Thursday from 10am to 3pm.
Accepts people with dementia over 70 who are physically active.

Transport maybe provided but will be assessed on an individual basis.
People attending are charged a minimal fee that contributes to the cost of the outings (there may be occasional additional costs for special outings/activities).
The outings are delivered by Central Bayside Community Health Services (CBCHS) in Partnership with the Alfred Health Carer Services Commonwealth Home Support Program.

To join these outings you need to call My Aged Care on: 1800 200 422
