Carers Victoria National Carers Week 16-22 October 2022

National Carers Week, celebrated from 16–22 October 2022, is a time for all Australians to recognise and celebrate the important contributions the 2.65 million unpaid carers make to their families and our community.

Welcome to
National Carers Week!

More than 700,000 Victorians perform a vital role in our community by providing unpaid care for a family member or friend who needs support due to disability, mental illness or significant health or age-related issues. That number is predicted to soar to one million carers by 2025.

This year, Carers Victoria reaches its 30th anniversary, and to celebrate we are sharing carer stories that highlight the diversity of the caring experience. Help us raise awareness of the extraordinary contribution of carers by sharing their stories from our campaign. Don’t forget to tag @CarersVictoria, #Carers2022 #MillionsOfReasonsToCare #CarersCountToo

Visit the Carers Victoria website to learn more about the events happening around Victoria this week.

We look forward to seeing you at the conference, either in the room or online.

Breaking the Taboo: Giving a voice to the topic of suicide

Discovery College is hosting an online course on suicide. The course will explore how to have open and honest conversations about suicide and how we can support others who have been affected by suicide.

This is a good course for anyone who wants to hear different perspectives from people who have been impacted including friends, families, health professionals, and the broader community.

The course runs from 10:30am – 12:00pm on 22 September, so enrol before spots fill up.

Welcome to the September edition of eNews

After what has seemed like a long Melbourne winter, here’s hoping for a bright, sunny spring ahead. In the words of Robin Williams, “Spring is natures way of saying let’s Party!”

There will certainly be much to celebrate next month when we recognise the significant contribution of carers during Carers Week (16th – 22nd October)

AHCS September events

We are excited to continue to offer a program of events to give you a break from your day to day role as a carer.

We understand that life can be unpredictable and that your plans may have to change. Just a reminder that if you receive a spot in one of our events, and are unable to attend, can you please give us as much notice as possible. We often have a waiting list of other carers who would like to attend and want to ensure we can give them the opportunity if available.

We have some new offerings for carers in September: for more information click on the link below
