Peer support for children/young people with parents who have a mental illness

Peer support groups are available at Family Life for children and young people who have a parent, carer or family member living with mental health challenges either in the home or in their family network.

The groups are facilitated by Family Life practitioners in partnership with families where a parent has a mental illness.

CHAMPS (flyer) is a free, peer support group for children aged 8-12 with an adult family member who experiences mental health challenges.

  • Where: Highett Neighbourhood Community House, 2 Livingston Street, Highett
  • When: 6 sessions, Tuesdays beginning 26 July 2022 to 30 August 2022.

Space4Us (flyer) is a free, peer support group for young people aged 12–18 who have a parent, carer or family member living with mental health challenges either in the home or in their family network.

  • Where: Family Life Sandringham office (Sun Room), 197 Bluff Road, Sandringham
  • When: 6 sessions, Thursdays, beginning 28 July 2022 to 1 September 2022.
