Inner South Family and Friends Geelong Gallery Tour and Lunch at Caruggi 1 June 2024
Twenty three carers braved a chilly, winter morning to meet at Southern Cross Station at 9.25am for our journey to Geelong. Travelling by train is highly recommended: it’s relaxing, comfortable and quicker than driving. At Geelong Gallery we were privileged to experience a guided tour of a Special Exhibition Cutting Through Time-Cressida Campbell, Margret Preston and the Japanese Print.
Media Release from Geelong Gallery “This exceptionally beautiful Geelong Gallery-curated exhibition examines the influence of Japanese woodblock prints (ukiyo-e) on the famed contemporary Australian painter and printmaker Cressida Campbell (born 1960) and the groundbreaking modernist painter and printmaker Margaret Preston (1875–
1963).”
Following our wonderful experience at the gallery we found our way to the Caruggi Restaurant for a Northern Italian Cuisine lunch. We certainly relished our delicious gourmet dishes. After a few glasses of wine and some delectable desserts, including Rum Babas, we all departed happily. Some to explore the Gallery again and others to head off home in the very comfortable train.
Thank you to Penny, Judi and Eleni for the amazing energy you have put into organising another successful ISFAF social outing.
