In a rare show of unity, a Greens motion calling on the state government to inject $29 million into cohealth has been supported by MPs across the political divide. Cohealth is not the only wraparound health provider to flag operational changes. The Age has confirmed Better Health Network may shut two of its south-east Melbourne sites, in Bentleigh and Clarinda, where more than half of residents speak a language other than English at home.
There was an outpouring of anger at Fitzroy Town Hall on Friday after The Age broke the news of the cohealth changes. More than 500 furious locals heard from councillors, GPs, patients and local state and federal MPs.
