Tuesday 12 August:  Jacqui Gibson, Lived Experience Commissioner Mental Health Complaints Commission
Improvements to the Commission were a recommendation of the Royal Commission. As a result, the number of commissioners increase to four, specifically including Lived Experience. The current government has recently cut funding and the number of commissioners have been reduced to one.  There’s no doubt that Jacqui’s talk will open our eyes to issues of which we all need to be aware.

Hayden, son of one of our founders, Judy Carroll and step-son of our member Frank has written a book ‘Compassion – a journey of love, loss and understanding of mental illness’. It is a very personal book about the 4 men in Hayden’s life that have suffered from mental illness. As a psychologist, Hayden shares his thoughts on how far society has come in the last 40 years and what we can still do to reduce the stigma and improve conversations about mental illness.

Tuesday 11 November: Dr Simon Stafrace, Programme Director Alfred Mental and Addiction Health
Dr Stafrace’s annual end-of-year talks are always of interest, updating us on innovations locally and generally in the world of mental health and wellbeing.
